Dr. Peter Lim immigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from Myanmar when he was 9 years old, and through hard work, strong family support, and perseverance, lived the American Dream. He graduated from Hahnemann University, completed internship and residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Women’s and Children’s Hospital at L.A. County, University of Southern California. He completed his Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Mayo Clinic. After his fellowship, Dr. Lim joined the largest gyn/onc practice in the United States which was based in California. The group recognized the need for gyn oncology service for patients in Reno, NV and opened a satellite office here in 1997. Dr. Lim grew to love this community and moved his family here in 1999. He was the sole provider for all the gynecological cancer patients and complex gynecologic surgical disease in the Reno-Tahoe community for over 20 years.
In 2006 Dr. Lim started Center of Hope to provide state of the art, compassionate, comprehensive, cost effective, and expedited care for Gynecologic Oncology services. He was instrumental in bringing Robotic Surgery to Reno, Nevada and performed the first robotic surgery in Reno Nevada in March 2008. He currently is appointed adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at University of Nevada School of Medicine.
He has published in peer reviewed journals, authored book chapters on topics of Robotics and Minimally Invasive surgery. He was the recipient of Robotics Technology paper award at the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy in 2009, 2011, and 2012. He has been an invited speaker at International meetings and has performed live surgical demonstration in robotic surgery. He has been named one of the 5 Epicenter Surgeons in Gynecologic Oncology in the United States and has performed nearly 3500 robotic procedures.
He is married to Nancy Lim, whom he met at Temple University, and has three children, all of whom graduated from the University of Nevada Reno. In his spare time, he likes to cook, play basketball, and spend time with family and friends. Family is incredibly important to Dr. Lim, and he treats the staff and patients at the Center of Hope like family.
